OnePlus, one of the best smartphone manufacturer company in the market recently released an upgraded version of its latest flagship OnePlus 3. The newer device named OnePlus 3T looks exactly the same except the new gunmetal color which looks pretty neat.
Although 3T looks alike its predecessor, the OnePlus 3 but the later is packed with upgraded components. At the same time it retains other aspects like the 1080p AMOLED display, 16MP rear shooter, 6GB of RAM, Dash Charge etc.
Lets take a look at what has been upgraded
The OnePlus 3T has been upgraded with the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor (faster, 2.35GHz version that powers the Google’s Pixel) while the OnePlus 3 holds a Snapdragon 820.
As already claimed by Qualcomm, Snapdragon 821 is 10% faster and much more battery efficient than the 820 variant. Also this version is slightly over clocked so it will definitely boast of a better performance making it stand at par with other smartphones like Google Pixel and iPhone 7.
The OnePlus 3T comes with a beefier 3400mAh battery unlike the 3000mAh battery found in the OP3. Great thing is, its still keeping all the dimensions same. The 3T is claimed to provide 22% – 25% more Screen-On-Time and adding to it the snapdragon 821 is considered to be more battery efficient compared to the prior snapdragon 820.
Dash Charge is also present which is one of the best mobile charging technology in the market right now. For those who don’t know about Dash Charge, it is OnePlus’s own fast charging technology which provides 62% charge in just 30min as checked by our team using the OnePlus 3.
The OnePlus 3T houses the same 16 Megapixel rear sensor with improved Electronic Image Stabilization for capturing more stable videos.
The major change in the camera department can be found in the front camera of the 3T. 8 Megapixel front camera is now changed to a 16 Megapixel camera with a Samsung 3P89SP sensor this time. All this will result in highly detailed selfies and better low light performance.
The 3T will run on the latest upgraded OxygenOS with Android Marshmallow under the skin.
OxygenOS is OnePlus’s own custom skin providing a lot of customization features while keeping everything snappy and clean. Features like Dark Mode, Shelf, Changing Icons in default launcher etc are all present in the 3T.
Both OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive Android Nougat update later this year at the same time as confirmed by the OnePlus team.
Even though 64GB internal storage was more than sufficient for the OnePlus 3 still the smartphone was criticized for not having expandable storage. While expandable storage is still not an option in 3T but it now comes with a new 128GB storage variant keeping 64GB model as an option too. Although you have to spend some extra bucks to get the 128GB version.
The OnePlus 3T will now come in a new color variant, GunMetal color over the Graphite version of the OnePlus 3 and will also come in Soft Gold version some time later this year.
While everyone praised the new Flagship Killer 3T, OnePlus 3 users are still unhappy with the early release of the new variant which houses large battery, better processor, better front camera and a new storage option with a minor price difference.
OnePlus 3T 64GB version is priced at USD 439 while the 128GB version is priced at USD 479.
