Doogee Y300 Review

DOOGEE Y300’s design is one of the factor which makes it a brilliant device to use. Yes we are talking about the new Y300 from Doogee, which comes in three different colour variants : White, Black and Champagne. Its
dual 2.5D curved metal frame matches every attire and occasion with its glorious 6.9mm thickness and 145gm weight, due to which it feels so good and cosy in hand.
Dual Gorilla Glass and Curved metallic frame combines to form an amazing
piece of artwork which is being delivered at a decent price tag. The top side of the device has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and the bottom holds the speakers and the Micro USB port. The backside bears the DOOGEE logo
and the primary camera. Volume Rockers and Power button are on the left
side and on the right side we have a Hybrid SIM card slot.
Doogee Y300 Review

Talking about the specs in a nutshell the Y300 sports a 5 inch HD screen, Dual SIM Dual standby (supports LTE), 8 Megapixel primary and 5 Megapixel secondary shooter. Y300 is powered by MediaTek Quad Core processor with 32 GB ROM and 2 GB RAM. Device comes with 2200 mAh battery and runs on the latest Android 6.0.

Now Lets talk about Y300 or what I personally like to call a “Beautifully crafted Beast”.

Doogee Y300 Review
Y300 sports a 5.0 inch In-Cell screen with 1280×720 Display resolution. Though the display is not full HD but it will not disappoint you, in fact its amazing HD resolution consumes less battery. Y300 has 80% screen-to-body ratio which is amazing. Gorilla Glass is present both at the back and the front preventing scratches to both the sides and adding more safety. With In-Cell technology the screen appears more transparent when turned On and darker when turned Off.

Color reproduction and viewing angles are good. There is no distortion while reading small fonts. Overall we can say that Doogee Y300 offers great display at an amazing price point.

Doogee Y300 Processor

DOOGEE Y300 is powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 Quad Core processor and Mali T720 GPU along with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. Memory can be expanded using MicroSD card upto 32 GB so there is no compromise in terms of its storage (Hybrid card slot is a slight pain though).

Performance is lag free while using the device normally however while playing high end games on maximum graphics settings you will find noticeable lags. We recommend to use medium or low graphics settings while playing High-end games. Device tends to heat up on heavy usage but nothing serious. During normal day to day use you wont find any lag, multitasking is easy and smooth. Y300 will not disappoint you in terms of normal usage.

Doogee Y300 Camera
Y300 comes with 8 Megapixel (Software 13 Megapixel) primary shooter and 5 Megapixel (Software 8 Megapixel) secondary shooter. As DOOGEE exclaims Y300 comes with 6 creative shutter ways: Smile shutter, V Shutter, Touch shutter, Timing Shutter, Left Button shutter, Continuous shutter etc. Images clicked using primary camera in Natural lights are good with nice colours and quality however in low light conditions its not upto the mark. Flash helps though but only works for shooting the objects near to the camera. Front camera have 36 Smart Beauty filters to snap selfies. So overall In natural day light conditions we can say the images clicked are actually impressive but the low light shots are not up to the mark. Hence we can assume that Y300 camera is not the best camera in the market but its one of the great camera in this price section.

Doogee Y300 UI

This segment requires proper attention, the device runs on latest Android version 6.0 Marshmallow with a custom Doogee Tailormade UI on top of it. Android 6.0 marshmallow is a refined version of material design including extra customization options and animations. It offers improved security, RAM & battery management with better android wear supports. With the Tailormade UI on top device feels much brighter making your days colourful each time you unlocks the device. So if you compare the device with other smartphones falling under the same price segment, there are limited vendors offering marshmallow at the market.

Y300 comes with all the connectivity features like 4G+3G+2G, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, MircoUSB v 2.0, 3.5 mm Jack. Sensors include Light, Proximity and Accelerometer. Y300 has a Li-ion 2200 mAh built in battery with claimed 2 Days standby. We were not able to confirm about the battery backup as we had the opportunity to use the device for only an hour.
